Tesla Gen 3 Wall Connector
Supply & Installation across the Fraser Coast
A sleek, reliable home charger that just works
The Tesla Gen 3 Wall Connector is a compact, Wi-Fi–connected AC charger designed for fast, convenient home charging. It supports single-phase and three-phase installs (up to 32 A), includes built-in safety protection, and can “power-share” with up to six units on one circuit—ideal for multi-EV households or strata carparks.
Quick highlights
Type 2 plug (the Australian standard) — suits Tesla and most other modern EVs with a Type 2/CCS2 inlet.
Adjustable up to 32 A output (we will set the output to suit your supply), single or three phase.
Built-in safety: integrated 6 mA DC leakage detection, so no external Type B device is required.
Wi-Fi + app commissioning, over-the-air firmware updates, access controls, and usage tracking in the Tesla app.
Power-sharing across multiple Wall Connectors to stay within a site current limit.
Why it’s a great value choice
Lower total cost than many “smart” third-party chargers with similar features (load sharing, Wi-Fi, OTA updates). Tesla also offers a 4-year residential warranty in Australia, adding confidence for homeowners.
Neat install: slim enclosure, 7.3 m tethered cable, tidy cable dock. Indoor/outdoor rated.
Future-friendly: software-based commissioning and updates extend functionality over time.
Tip for Queensland homes: Pairing the charger with an off-peak tariff/schedule can materially reduce charging costs without extra hardware. (We’ll configure scheduling with you during commissioning.)
Things to consider
(especially if you don’t own a Tesla or a Powerwall)
1) Compatibility & experience with non-Tesla EVs
It can charge non-Tesla EVs (Type 2), provided the Gen 3 is set to “charge all EVs” during commissioning. Earlier Tesla wall connectors had mixed behaviour, but Gen 3 supports a non-Tesla mode.
App features differ for non-Tesla cars. You’ll still have access control, scheduling and usage, but Tesla-specific niceties (like auto-open charge port) won’t apply to other brands.
2) Solar optimisation
Gen 3 Wall Connector does not natively “solar-match/divert” on its own. For deep solar integration (charging only from excess PV, dynamic tracking), Tesla’s ecosystem needs Powerwall integration; otherwise consider a third-party solar-aware charger if solar-only charging is a must-have.
3) Electrical & compliance details
Built-in RCD Type A + 6 mA DC detection satisfies the EVSE DC leakage requirement in AS/NZS 3000 contexts (so no separate Type B RCD is typically needed). We’ll design the circuit for your switchboard capacity and tariff.
4) Multi-EV households / apartments
Need to charge two or more EVs? We can power-share multiple Wall Connectors under a single supply limit to avoid expensive switchboard upgrades.
Who the Tesla Wall Connector suits best
Tesla owners wanting the most seamless experience at home.
Non-Tesla owners who want a tidy, reliable charger and are comfortable using the car’s own scheduling/app for some features.
Homes and small sites that value clean aesthetics, load-sharing, and a proven ecosystem.
If you want advanced solar-only charging without Powerwall, we’ll run you through alternatives (e.g., solar-aware third-party units) and explain trade-offs.

Frequently asked questions
Will it work with my non-Tesla EV?
Yes—Gen 3 can be configured to charge all EVs with a Type 2/CCS2 inlet. We set that during commissioning. Some models show a short handshake before charging begins.
What charging speed will I get?
That depends on your supply (single vs three phase) and the current we set. The unit supports up to 32 A. Tesla quotes up to ~71 km per hour of charge under ideal conditions. We’ll right-size it to your switchboard capacity.
Do I need a Type B RCD?
No—the Wall Connector includes RCD Type A + 6 mA DC detection internally. We still design and test the circuit to meet the Wiring Rules.
Can I charge only from my excess solar?
Not natively. True solar-matching/divert requires either a Powerwall-based setup in the Tesla ecosystem, or choosing a third-party charger designed for PV divert. We’ll talk you through both routes.
Can I add more Wall Connectors later?
Yes—power-sharing lets you run up to six Gen 3 units on a shared limit, which is perfect for multi-EV homes or shared parking.
